Head of Marketing - Paris
Paris Packaging Week is a fast-growing, multi-award winning event that has an ever-increasing impact on the international market for packaging of beauty, luxury, aerosol and drinks products.
The event includes five distinct shows, agenda-setting conferences, a new offsite awards ceremony and attracts more than 850 exhibitors and 12,500 visitors from around the world. Together, the events unite a passionate and creative community of packaging designers and innovators, packaging manufacturers, brand owners, marketing teams and more to create the next generation of FMCG and luxury products.
As it gears up for its next stage of expansion, Paris Packaging Week is now recruiting for a native French-speaking Head of Marketing to join the team in central Paris. The Head of Marketing will lead and coach a well-established and talented marketing team and will be expected to become a public face of the event, play a leading role in developing relationships with existing and new partners, and work with the team and senior management to develop the future strategy for the event.
About the role
The successful candidate will lead all aspects of communication and marketing for Paris Packaging Week, bringing clear strategy and strong leadership, delivering top-quality marketing collateral and messaging in both French and English, developing the community and partnerships around the events and becoming a public face of the show.
Internal relationships
The HoM will work alongside the Head of Sales and the Content & Community Director and report to the Divisional Director. He or she will head up a team that includes a senior marketing manager plus at least three marketing executives and interns; while other internal contacts will include: Regional Marketing Director, Senior Operations Manager, Head of FP&A and Head of Talent.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include the following:
- Developing and delivering a robust marketing strategy for Paris Packaging Week and delivering year-on-year growth in visitor numbers;
- Becoming a public face and spokesperson for the events and ensuring the shows have a strong voice within the sector;
- Managing marketing budgets in collaboration with the team;
- Leading and developing the marketing team, working with them to ensure clear responsibilities, coaching to improve the team's skills and knowledge, and driving continuous improvement in the quality of their work;
- Producing engaging, creative and faultless marketing materials across all channels and in both languages for both visprom and exprom, with consistent quality, messaging and tone of voice;
- Developing and strengthening the community around the events, building and leading strong relationships with a range of stakeholders including key visitors, exhibitors, media, associations and regulatory/government bodies;
- With the Content & Community Director and other colleagues, developing programmes and products to build engagement and brand awareness through the year among these stakeholders;
- Management of external suppliers and agencies;
- Identifying strategic opportunities for commercial and visitor growth; and playing a role (alongside the leadership team) in strategic decisions about the development of the events.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will:
- have prior successful experience of leading and coaching marketing teams on trade events in an international context;
- be French mother tongue (or equivalent level) and fluent in English; other languages are a plus;
- be able to demonstrate big picture thinking, adaptability, resilience, communication, presentation and organisational skills;
- have natural authority and an excellent capacity to interact with stakeholders at all levels and to speak in a range of situations, including public speaking;
- be able to demonstrate outstanding skills in creating marketing materials across all channels;
- have strong knowledge of the key platforms and technologies used in event marketing including email, websites and more;
- have the ambition, drive and creativity to grow their products.
