AEO - Association of event organisers

AEO UK Organiser Group

AEO

group The UK Organiser Group connects AEO events organisers who operate in the UK through meetings and events. Their responsibilities are to drive association policy and raise awareness of the importance and value of the sector with; Government, regulators and other associations that may not understand their value.

A statement from the group chairs

Coming back together in February to speak to each of our UK Organiser Group members, there was a noticeable lift in the conversation and a sigh of relief that we had been able to run shows over the last 6 months.

Peoples diaries are filling up due to the industry reopening and this means we have reverted to a quarterly meeting format to accommodate.

We will continue to use our sessions to check in with members and do a temperature check of the last quarter, but start to look at more progressive subjects that will protect the future of events and build on the collaborative relationship that we have developed with our venue and supplier stakeholders over the course of the pandemic.

These include:

  • Diversifying and regrowing the talent pool, filling gaps and understanding what new roles and opportunities there is to attract people.
  • Ways to understand and improve the customer journey, looking to spread spend more evenly across the supply chain and protect the pockets of the exhibitor, and in turn the growth of events.
  • Continue the diversification of revenue streams, learning from each other about what is working digitally, multi-channel opportunities etc.
  • Becoming a sustainable industry and become pioneers in actively meeting net zero targets.

We will look to run hybrid meetings as a group and see the return of our UK CEO Summit in 2022, championing the benefits of meeting face to face.
