i2i welcomes WGSN Global Fashion Awards into its portfolio and launches the Creative Futures summits

  • Global Fashion Awards were launched by Top Right Group operating company and leading trend and style forecaster, WGSN, in 2009
  • Awards move to i2i Events Group reflects synergy with i2i's international events expertise
  • Creative Futures summits will bring together the finest minds and leaders in the fashion and creative industries

i2i Events Group is pleased to announce that the WGSN Global Fashion Awards have now become part of its international events portfolio.  A new series of forward looking trend summits, starting with Creative Futures London, have also been launched to take place from 2015.

The WGSN Global Fashion Awards recognise and celebrate innovation and breakthrough talent in fashion, on an international scale, taking in the full range of the industry from catwalk to retail.  21 awards categories cover individual designers, brands and retailers, digital innovation and the design and buying sector and, with entries from more than 50 countries for each event, these are the only fashion awards to recognise achievement on a global scale.  Previous winners have included Acne Studios, & Other Stories, Topshop, Gap Kids and Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Officer Burberry.

The 2015 event will take place at The Park Lane Hotel on 14th May, with the international judging panel comprising designers, retailers, writers, photographers, style leaders and taste makers, including industry luminaries Caroline Burstein, Creative Director, Browns; Michael Herz, Artistic Director, Diane von Furstenberg; Eric Jennings, Vice President and Fashion Director, Saks Fifth Avenue and Kristina Szasz, Creative Director Denim, Karl Lagerfeld.

As part of the long term development of the WGSN Global Fashion Awards, i2i has also launched the Creative Futures summits. At an event to announce the launch, held on 26th November, invited guests were introduced to the concept of the summits and had an opportunity to take part in panel discussions with leading industry names.  The first summit will take place in London in May 2015 (in conjunction with the WGSN Global Fashion Awards), with further events in planning for the Asia and Latin America regions.  The two day summits will bring together senior creative leaders in fashion and style-led industries, including attendees from WGSN's key international client base, and will feature unique trend intelligence content on design, product, retail, marketing and consumer behaviour from renowned speakers representing both local and international perspectives.

The Advisory Board for the Creative Futures summits 2015 includes representatives from Galeries Lafayette, Amazon, Harvey Nichols and Jigsaw and speakers already confirmed for the London event in May include Patrick Grant, Designer; Dominic Smales, Managing Director, Gleam Futures; Gabriel Roberts, Founder & Director, Wavey Garms; Ed Burstell, Managing Director, Liberty; Rob Forkan, Co-Founder, Gandys Flipflops; Nicola McClafferty, CEO, Covetique and Jen Rubio, Chief Marketing Officer, Savse.

Mark Shashoua, CEO i2i Events Group comments, “I am delighted to see the WGSN Global Fashion Awards join the i2i Events Group family.  This move reflects the approach of the Top Right Group operating company to regularly review, evaluate and best align products within the Group, to achieve overall strategic business goals.  We now have an exciting opportunity to leverage i2i's international events expertise to take the Awards to the next level.  And with the launch of the Creative Futures summits we can ensure that we take the industry with us, in staying one step ahead of international trends in the fashion and creative sectors.â€'
