29th May 2013: i2i Events Group continues its international expansion with launch of CWIEME in Shanghai

  • Launch follows i2i's acquisition of the Coil Winding (CWIEME) portfolio in 2012
  • Asian market, driven by China, is the world's largest market for the industry
  • Organised in co-operation with CCPITECC

i2i Events Group is pleased to announce the launch of CWIEME (Coil Winding, Insulations and Electrical Manufacturing Exhibition) Shanghai, which will take place at the Shanghai International Exhibition Centre, INTEX, from 3 – 5 March 2014.

Organised in co-operation with CCPITECC (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Electronics and Information Industry Sub Council), who are global partners of i2i, this launch follows i2i's acquisition of the CWIEME portfolio in September 2012.  It is also part of a wider strategy to deliver high quality events to key areas of growth and is the latest addition in a fast expanding portfolio which now includes Berlin, Bangalore and Chicago.  China is already recognised as the world's largest manufacturing centre and the Asian market, driven by China, represents the largest market for electric motors and transformers, and is projected to grow to $26bn by 2016.

Gordon Payne, i2i Events Group International Director, comments, “China is a key growth area for i2i going forward. With an office already established in Shanghai and our partnership with CCPITECC, we are confident that we will be able to create another world leading forum for the coil winding, insulations and electrical manufacturing technology industry, and a truly valuable marketing platform.  We will also be investing in the content aspect of the event, the Inductica conference programme, to present the latest innovations from China and around the world, providing a unique networking opportunity for leading design and production engineers.  Feedback to the launch of the event and the Shanghai location has been very positive, with two thirds of the space already reserved.â€'

Guangxiong Jiang, Vice Chairman, CCPITECC comments, “CCPITECC has built up a strong relationship with the CWIEME events since we first brought a Chinese Pavilion to CWIEME Berlin in 2007.  Our clients recognise the importance of the CWIEME brand and we enjoy a 70% rebooking rate year on year for the events.  In recent years, the electrical manufacturing industry in China has benefited from a programme of national planning and policy making, and against this positive backdrop we are delighted to be working with i2i Events Group for CWIEME Shanghai in 2014 and are confident that it will become a world leading event for the industry.â€'

CWIEME was established in Berlin in 1996 and rapidly grew to become the world's largest international exhibition of its type serving the industrial technology niche of components for electric motors and transformers.  The portfolio now comprises CWIEME exhibitions in Germany, China, India and the USA and the Inductica Conferences, with the events widely recognised as world leading for the industry.

CCPITECC was established in 1988 as a professional institution for international trade promotion specialising in the electronics and information industry. It is governed by the Ministry of Industry and Information of the People's Republic of China (MIIT) and China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
