Dubai, 31 October 2016 - Sourcing innovative construction products from around the globe, networking with peers, learning from industry experts and staying up to date with latest trends and opportunities in the East African construction market is finally possible, in one place, at one time. As Kenya's first National Construction Week opens its doors from Nov 2 to 4, its official exhibition, The Big 5 Construct East Africa 2016, brings to Nairobi over 150 companies from 20 countries showcasing latest products for the local built environment.

Construction professionals will be able to source never seen before solutions and technologies thanks to hundreds of samples at display at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre. “Jotun Paints, JCB, Caterpillar, Volvo, Bauer, Aluminco, ACM, Rak Ceramics, Laticrete Middle East, Superlon Worldwide, Gutmann and MASA are just few of the exhibitors that will showcase the latest and most innovative products for the built environment,â€' Patrick Gedeon, Event Manager of The Big 5 Construct East Africa said.

Organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa and co-located with the National Construction Authority's Annual Construction Research Conference and Exhibition (ACoRCE 2016), the first edition of the event is set to be the central meeting place for global manufacturers and construction industry decision-makers to network and do business in the East African region. “We trust The Big 5 Construct East Africa 2016 will open a brand new chapter in the development of the construction industry in Kenya,â€' Mr. Gedeon commented.

Beyond hosting several launches of products that are new to Kenya and the East African market, the National Construction Week's official exhibition will offer construction professionals a wide range of learning and networking opportunities.

Throughout the three days of the show, visitors will be able to attend for free over 15 CPD-certified workshops delivered by industry experts. The workshops will focus on hot industry topics like technology and sustainability, LEED, finance, human resources, health and safety, project management and BIM, exploring innovative solutions, latest trends and best practices.

The line-up of speakers at The Big 5 Construct East Africa 2016 is impressive. “We will have Peter K. Warari, Founder Director of Altima Africa, delivering a presentation on human resources and Dr. Lawrence Mbugua, CEO of Mwanzoni Ltd, unveiling tips and best practices for effective time management in construction,â€' Mr. Gedeon said.

Charles Kahuthu, CEO of the East African Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture will present ‘Public-private partnerships in delivering East African infrastructure projects', while Rajiv Sharma, Capital Projects Leader at Deloitte East Africa will discuss ‘High Quality Infrastructure Investments'. Boni Chileshe, CEO East Africa at AECOM, will deliver a presentation on BIM, Eng. John Tanui, Chief Executive Officer of Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA), will present Konza Technopolis' project, while Tapiwa Chiwewe, Research Scientist at IBM Research – Africa, South Africa Lab, will explore the ‘Internet Of Things in Africa: Challenges, Progress and Opportunities'.

The theme of sustainability, which is gaining momentum in the industry, will be also widely debated. Visitors will be able to listen Elizabeth Wangeci Chege, CEO MSc Building Services, talking about the paradigm shift to green building in Africa and Mario Seneviratne, Director of Green Technologies, delivering an introduction to the LEED v4 integrative process. Taking place on Nov 4 from 14:00-15:00, this latter will provide essential knowledge of green building concepts that are fundamental to the LEED Rating Systems, explaining its goals and structure.

“Attendees will be engaged in discussing the LEED certification process, also touching on LEED online with sample credit forms, and scorecards. They will learn about the integrative approach to green building, including a case study on Integrative Design,â€' Mr. Seneviratne explained. “This workshop will also describe the Minimum Program Requirements, which are the minimum characteristics or conditions that make a project appropriate to pursue LEED certification.â€'

Construction industry professionals including engineers, designers and project managers, will have the chance to network with thousands of peers from Kenya and around the globe. A team of expert backhoe operators will entertain visitors with their synchronized diggers dancing to music across all three days of the event, as The Big 5 Construct East Africa 2016 brings the world-famous JCB's Dancing Diggers performance to the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
