Money20/20, the worldÂ’s largest FinTech event, makes its mark in Europe with successful first edition in Copenhagen

04 May 2016

Money20/20 Europe, held from 4 – 7 April at the Bella Center, welcomed over 3,700 attendees from 75 countries.  It also attracted more than 200 sponsors, 422 speakers and outstanding media coverage from, among others, CNBC, Financial Times, Bloomberg and The Guardian.

Money20/20 in the US is widely recognised as the world-class platform for the entire Payments and Financial Services innovation sector to connect, collaborate and innovate.  The event was acquired by i2i Events Group in 2014, and a brand expansion into Europe was announced with a view to providing a new focus on the opportunities and challenges specific to Europe.  With a strong and innovative financial sector, Copenhagen was deemed the right location to access the wider European market, at a time when the industry is experiencing an accelerated period of product development.

One of Money20/20's greatest strengths is its ability to deliver an unparalleled senior audience.  The European event was no exception, with over 64% of speakers CEOs or Founders, and 1 in 3 of its attendees C-level executives.  Notable keynotes in Copenhagen included Ann Cairns, President of International Markets MasterCard; Nicolas Huss, CEO Visa Europe; Carlos Torres, CEO BBVA; Hikmek Ersek, CEO Western Union and Ralph Hamers, CEO ING Group.

Money20/20 is also renowned for the industry announcements that are made during the event.  In Copenhagen, significant announcements were made by, amongst others, Alipay, Amazon, Western Union, Samsung and MasterCard.

Katy Fryatt, Event Director Money20/20 Europe at i2i Events Group commented, “We are all delighted with the huge success of the first edition of Money20/20 Europe.  I look forward to the future of this event and am confident that it will continue to be the catalyst for the growth and development of the payments and financial services ecosystem.â€'

Money20/20 Founder, Anil Aggarwal said, “The in-house content experts delivered another outstanding programme of exceptional speakers.   The entire team created a completely fresh experience for leading innovators in Europe.â€'
