i2i Events Group announces Copenhagen as the host city for Money20/20 Europe

23 Mar 2015

i2i Events Group is pleased to announce that Copenhagen has been chosen as the host city for the European edition of Money20/20.  The launch event will take place at the Bella Center from 5 – 7 April 2016 and is expected to welcome some 3,000 delegates to the Danish capital.

Money20/20 is the world's largest and most relevant conference and exhibition for innovators in the payments and financial services sector.  It is not only a market leader but also a fast growing event.  The 4th edition, taking place in Las Vegas in October 2015, expects to welcome more than 10,000 decision makers, entrepreneurs and leading industry figures, among them 1,000 CEOs, all representing some 3,000 organisations and 75 countries.

The intention to launch a European edition of Money20/20 was announced in October 2014 with a view to providing a new platform to focus on the opportunities and challenges specific to Europe.  Since then the organisers have worked closely with Wonderful Copenhagen, the Bella Center and network organisation, Copenhagen Fintech Innovation and Research (CFIR) to secure this location for the European launch.

Money20/20 Europe has already garnered strong support from some of the leading regional and global companies across the payments and financial services sector.  Launch sponsors include:

AIMIA, American Express, Bain Capital Ventures, Bell ID, BitPay, Blockchain, CPI, Credorax, Currency Cloud, Digital River, Discover, Dream Payments, Earthport, Encap Security, Ericsson, Espirito Santo Ventures, Ezbob, Feedzai, First Data, Gemalto, Google Wallet, Handpoint, Hyperwallet, InComm, Ingenico Group, Jumio, Klarna, Lebara, Limonetik, MasterCard, Oak HC/FT, ONPEX, Optimal Payments, Payoneer, Payvision, Powa, Ripple Labs, SVS, The Bancorp, TSYS, UL, ValidSoft, Verifone, Visa, Vocalink, Wirecard, Worldpay, Xoom, Yodlee, Yoyo and Zapp.

Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Frank Jensen says, “I am very pleased that Copenhagen has been chosen as the host city for Money20/20 Europe.  Copenhagen is the gateway to Scandinavia and has a strong and innovative financial sector.  I look forward to welcoming all the participants and hope that they will also explore the city and its many attractions.  Copenhagen is designed for life; from the sustainable solutions and many bikes, the fantastic food and intelligent infrastructure to the clean water and green parks, the city is firmly focused on the balance between work and play and provides an ideal setting for large conferences and exhibitions.â€'

Mark Shashoua, i2i Events Group CEO says, “Copenhagen epitomises Money20/20's core values. As the cultural, economic and governmental centre of Denmark, and one of the major financial centres of Northern Europe, the city is accessible, forward thinking, competitive and entrepreneurial and has a long tradition as a knowledge hub.  We are delighted to be taking Money20/20 to Copenhagen and I am confident that it will offer an incredible event experience for the international payments and financial technology community.â€'
