The Opportunity:

Clarion Defence & Security organises sector leading events that enable government officials, industry leaders and technical experts to share ideas, develop partnerships, conduct business, network and access export and growth markets.
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and creative Marketing Executive to join the Defence & Security Marketing team. The successful candidate will help the Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Executive to deliver against the agreed marketing strategy by assisting with the planning, organisation and execution of innovative marketing campaigns. The key objective of which is to raise the profile of the Company and its events in order to maximize revenue and contribute creatively to the continued growth and development of the portfolio and the organization.

The Candidate:

Supported by the Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Executive, the successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and implementation of creative marketing campaigns of the highest standard delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be highly creative and an excellent team player with the ability to organise their time to manage multiple projects. Previous experience in a B2B events role is essential.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering cross-channel marketing campaigns with support from the Marketing Team members in line with the event or project objectives
  • Assisting with the design, production and distribution of all promotional materials relating to the portfolio
  • Writing and proofing copy for a range of marketing platforms & materials including websites, social media, emails and brochures
  • Maintaining and updating websites
  • Using digital channels and technologies to enhance the online presence of the business
  • Managing and segmenting data, identifying gaps, developing new data sources and implementing a data build plan
  • Continuous analysis and evaluation of marketing campaigns to improve performance
  • Assisting with the PR activity relating to the portfolio, researching material for press releases, building relationships with relevant press and partners
  • Building and managing relationships with external suppliers and negotiating prices
  • Working with key media & association partners to secure valuable external promotions for the events
  • Carrying out competitor analysis to identify potential threats and opportunities
  • Provide the Marketing Manager with on-going and comprehensive post campaign reports and recommendations for future improvements
  • Remain up-to-date with latest communications tools and continuously assess their deployment to improve marketing effectiveness


Knowledge, skills and personal attributes:

  • Previous experience in a marketing role in a B2B exhibitions environment
  • A proven track record of implementing successful marketing communications campaigns
  • Experience within PR and communications and be able to demonstrate how relationships have been with media in previous roles
  • Understanding of database management and segmentation techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of both on and offline marketing
  • Experience using a CRM system eg. Pardot and Salesforce would be preferred
  • Sound knowledge of digital marketing practices and channels such as Google Analytics, SEO, PPC and social media
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail, strong copy writing, proofing and analytical skills
  • Strong analytical skills to interrogate data and draw conclusions
  • Proven understanding of tracking and response reporting
  • Project management, planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communicator
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team player as required
  • Work calmly under pressure
