Job Title:      Portfolio PR Executive, RTE Leisure Travel Portfolio (Maternity cover)

Reports to:   Portfolio PR Manager

  Based at:      Richmond, Surrey, UK 


Job Purpose:

To promote the individual brands and status of RTE’s WTM Portfolio, in partnership with the Portfolio PR Manager and individual event-marketing managers through the development of strong, innovative and effective press and public relations campaigns.

Key responsibilities:


Work with the Portfolio PR Manager and Portfolio Marketing Managers on:

• Strategic development and implementation of the PR campaigns
• Writing and distribution of releases
• Exhibitor liaison & gathering collateral
• Consistency of reporting and analysis across the events 
• Consistency of onsite experience for press across the events
• Proactive fostering of relationships of key press and associations worldwide
• Improving coverage for key exhibitors across the portfolio
• Assisting and advising marketing managers as and when required


World Travel Market (London)

• Promote the brand and status of this event, through the development of a strong, innovative and effective press and public relations campaign
• Develop excellent media relationships with a view to driving our key messages into currently unchartered territory, while maintaining existing relationships
• Monitor the external reputation of the brand and adapt style and respond to any issues accordingly
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business to ensure understanding of the PR plan, issues and results
• Create press releases, advertorials, statements, Q&As, social media and other necessary communications 
• Budget management
• Supplier management (including drive and performance of PR outsource, onsite daily newspaper, photography, filming etc)
• Management of press and PR services
• Partner management
• Organisation of press events including PR planning day
• Management of International Press Centre, services, staff and equipment
• Production of PR Manual 
• Exhibitor and PR tutorials
• Production of Media Diary of Events
• Production of Exhibitor News
• Exhibitor/sales support 
• World Responsible Tourism Day PR across all media.
• Ministers Programme (including Ministers’ Summit) PR campaign including pre event and onsite reporting and follow up. Input private sector panel of speakers
• Administration and support to the team
• Administration of Minsters’ Programme and Ministers’ Summit
• Update media database
• Manage all PR POs on system and oversee budget
• Issue of releases
• Online Picture Library
• General Enquiry Desk (onsite)
• General Administration

Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Competencies

• Have a thorough understanding of media dynamics/ requirements, including print, broadcast and electronic
• Demonstrable and excellent media writing and editing skills to high journalistic standards
• Ability to write in different styles, depending on publication/task and location of target media
• Ability to identify issues and story angles re editorial for industry, trade, UK, International, consumer national and international publications
• Ability to sell-in story lines, matching angles/interests to target media
• A comprehensive understanding of the trends and developments within the travel and tourism industry
• Good organisational skills
• Good management and interpersonal skills
• Good presentation skills
• Experience of working with consumer brands and developing and executing consumer campaigns 
• Good networking skills, diplomacy, tact and an ability to react quickly
• A natural problem solver who is calm under pressure
