Rob Turnbull
Rob Turnbull is the Sustainability Manager at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), leading the organisation’s strategy for environmental sustainability, climate action, and social impact. With an engineering and academic background, he brings a data‑driven and practical approach to embedding credible, measurable sustainability across operations. Rob oversees the EICC’s Net Zero 2030 pathway, achieving a 63% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from a 2013 baseline while supporting significant growth in sustainable event activity. His work spans energy management, waste reduction, sustainable procurement, and low‑carbon travel initiatives, including developing Event Impact Reports and supporting the rollout of You.Smart.Thing.
He leads the EICC’s Climate Action Contribution with RSPB Scotland, supporting peatland restoration for long‑term carbon and biodiversity benefits. Rob also contributes to the organisation’s wider social impact, from EICC:Live programming to community donations and surplus material redistribution.
Actively collaborating with clients, suppliers, and industry partners, Rob regularly shares best practice across the sector and champions the role that venues and events can play in driving positive environmental and social outcomes while supporting commercial success.
