OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE INDUSTRY |
 |
 |
Sponsored by

Selected by AEO Board - no entries required, thank you.
In 2009, the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry was the very well respected Brian Wiseman, of Wiseguys Event Solutions.
Brian has been a key player in both the exhibition and publishing industries over the last 40 years.
In 1989 he sold his exhibition company to Blenheim Group PLC. He was with Blenheim for a number of years, and was responsible for organising a wide range of successful exhibitions. Brian turned Birmingham into the fashion capital of the world. The show launched in 1990 with a turnover of just £100,000 and it became Premier Collections. By 1993 it was turning over £13 million and providing 20% of the Blenheim Group’s profit.
Brian became Chairman of Blenheim’s UK Board, from which role he would mentor younger show directors. Among the portfolio then were Confex, The Furniture Show, Top Drawer, IFSEC, Networks, The Harrogate Gift Fair – and he helped drive them all.
Since leaving his last full time position over six years ago , Brian has used his experience and knowledge to acquire a number of consultancy projects and developed a series of training courses for the organiser community around the principles of launching an event. Brian was the man behind the launch of the record breaking Erotica exhibition which he then went onto sell. Nowadays, our winners’ focus is on the show “Ten Years Younger Live”.
The victors in 2008 and 2007 were Nick Marshall, CEO of Melville and Trevor Foley, Group CEO of the Events Industry Alliance respectively.
