National Boat Shows announces new management structure

Murray Ellis has today been announced as Acting Managing Director for National Boat Shows (NBS), following the departure of Andrew Williams after the 2011 Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show.  Murray, currently Director of Operations at NBS, will take up the role from 21 January 2011.

In addition to the role of Managing Director, Murray will remain responsible for many elements of his current Operations role.   He is well known within the industry, having been with the company for 23 years and, as such, brings with him a wealth of experience and incredible knowledge of both the marine and exhibition industries.  Murray currently sits on the Board of the Association of Event Organisers (AEO).

To enable Murray to hold MD and Operational duties Adrian Danson, Commercial Director, will assume responsibility for the Marketing and Communications departments.  Adrian has been with National Boat Shows for more than three years and has been responsible for securing title sponsors, PSP and Tullett Prebon, for the Southampton and London Boat Shows respectively.

Rob Stevens, Chief Executive of parent company British Marine Federation (BMF), said: “This is a really exciting time for National Boat Shows and I am delighted to be able to recognise internal talent.  In both Murray and Adrian, backed by Mike Enser, Rebecca Jackson and Carol Taylor, our two world famous boat shows are in extremely capable hands.  I am very confident of Murray and the team continuing the excellent plans that are already in place and delivering continued success for exhibitors and the industry as a whole.”

Paul Strzelecki, Chairman of National Boat Shows added: “In such challenging times we are pleased to have a smooth transition at the head of NBS.  The years of experience that Murray and the rest of the great team have puts us in strong position to continue forward."

Murray Ellis said: “It is a challenging role but one that I am very excited to be undertaking.  I am positive that, together with the team, we can continue to build on the current direction and success that is already in place for the Southampton and London shows.”

Murray will hold the position of Acting Managing Director until the end of the Financial Year in June, with a view of making the team structure and MD role permanent post June.
