New date for AEO Excellence Awards

Association of Event Organisers (AEO) is announcing today that AEO Excellence Awards will now be hosted on 22 June 2010 at Wembley Stadium. The ceremony was initially set to take place on 24 June, but AEO has moved the date to avoid conflicting with the International Convention Centre (ICC) London ExCeL launch event on 24 June.

AEO CEO Austen Hawkins said: "We are delighted to reschedule our Awards ceremony to allow ExCeL to host their launch event on 24 June."

Kevin Murphy, CEO, ExCeL London commented: "We are extremely grateful for the continued support of AEO and this is another example of how the industry works together to ensure that we promote the importance of events in the marketing mix. The launch event for London's first International Convention Centre and phase 2 extension is another major investment in the industry by ExCeL, to provide world class facilities for our customers, and for London. Our launch party is being hosted by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and Visit London and will include the exhibitions, conference, events and global stakeholders to showcase one of the UK's premier venues. Being produced by George P Johnson, it will be a fantastic showcase and with AEO Excellence Awards taking place two days before, it will be a great networking opportunity and a week of celebrations of our extraordinary industry."

AEO Excellence Awards recognises and celebrates organisers’ achievements, standards of excellence from venues and service quality by suppliers and contractors throughout the industry. Member and non-member companies are now invited to submit entries at www.aeo.org.uk/awards.
