Get involved in ‘Brides at Work’
The National Wedding Show has launched a new exciting charity initiative – Brides at Work in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In support of Brides at Work, National Wedding Show organiser, Ocean Media, will donate a generous 50p from every show ticket purchased in the next year – resulting in a whopping £30,000 over 12 months being raised for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Brides at Work Day is open to all and will take place on Friday the 17th of September. The National Wedding team at Ocean Media aim to get everyone involved, no matter when the wedding took place or indeed if it is more of a work in progress.... brides, grooms, bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and maid of honours all are invited to take part. For those who don't feel quite up to wearing their wedding dress, simply don't have one or can’t disclose it yet, they can participate by wearing a tiara, with or without the veil for the day or generally dressing up as a part of a wedding party - it is the taking part that counts.
James Brooks-Ward, Managing Director of Ocean Media Group comments, "Brides at work day is typical of the initiatives generated by the National Wedding Show team. This is the first time that Ocean Media has supported a charity in such a positive fashion and I am delighted it is for Breakthrough Breast Cancer - a really fabulous charity."
Ashley Roberts, event director says, “Brides at Work has attracted a massive amount of support from within the Bridal industry it would be good to see some exhibition and events organisers getting involved too!”
Information on how to participate
TV Fashion guru and host of the National Wedding Show’s bridal make-over show, Caryn Franklin offers her advice on how to get the look for Brides at Work Day; ‘This is a chance to get that dress out again and relive the big day, for a great cause. If you no longer have the dress or fit is a problem, here are my top tips for ‘Brides at Work Day’.- If that beloved gown is a tad tight, consider, sewing some satin ribbon where the fastening is so that you can use the ribbon as a tie and leave the original fastening open, then cover up with a cardigan or wrap. Also consider support underwear like a waist cincher to knock off an inch or two
- If you don’t have the dress any longer, wear something else from the big day - your veil and tiara will make a great impact. But don’t forget other accessories like shoes and garter
- Hey Grooms, don’t leave fundraising all to the Brides...join in by wearing your suit, and button hole. Mums can wear their special outfits and for the less adventurous just the accessories will do hats, fascinators and corsages will hit the spot....and, Bridesmaids we are counting on you, so don’t miss your chance to dress up for the day too!
- For Brides to be, don’t miss out on the action... invest in a novelty tiara and put your hair up and add to your daywear. Affordable fun tiara’s are readily available from the high street
- Brides at Work is a chance to get dressed up for the day, in anything wedding related – have fun and raise money!’
