Outstanding attendance once again at the UK’s largest environmental event
Despite the disruption caused by the volcanic ash clouds during the Sustainabilitylive! dates 20th – 22nd April, Faversham House Group increased its attendance by a record 12% and exhibitors, speakers and delegates had an excellent show by all standards.
Across the three days Sustainabilitylive! attracted a record attendance of 8,904 (subject to audit) along with around 240 speakers and over 400 exhibiting organisations.
Highlights from the conferences and seminar sessions included energy efficiency in action; putting sustainability at the heart of business, flood management and rainwater harvesting; greener fleet management, energy in buildings, carbon markets, remediation and renewable energy technologies.
A new focus on green transport was well-received by visitors, including actor and technology fan Robert Llewellyn, one of the trial drivers of the electric Mitsubishi cars on display at the show, who had this to say about his car:
“It’s brilliant, the car is always full when you leave in the morning and it costs less than a quid to drive 80 miles. It’s no slow coach either; if you floor it, it does over 80mph. I’m dreading having to give it back.”Exhibitors meanwhile were heartened by the news that two of their number – Wireless Innovation and DANLERS Ltd – had been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, respectively for International Trade and Innovation.
A number of associated conferences took place including British Water’s two day summit on the supply chain, the Major Energy Users’ council meeting, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health conference on contaminated land and the UKTI’s ‘Meet the Buyer’ programme.
Sponsors and exhibitors had this to say:
On behalf of Hyder Consulting, headline sponsors of Sustainabilitylive! 2010, I would like to congratulate and thank Faversham House for delivering an event that exceeded the high expectations we held as the result of our previous association.
Once again the judiciously themed SB conference programme allowed delegates to increase their understanding of the sustainability agenda. It introduced them not only to new perspectives on the challenges posed to their commercial future in a carbon-constrained economy, but also to the practical measures they can take to ensure their success.
Both at and following the show we received excellent feedback, particularly on our experts’ contributions to the conference and seminar sessions. Sustainabilitylive! also enabled us to commence dialogues with senior representatives of businesses with whom we look forward to working in the year ahead.
Annabel Britton, Marketing and Communications Manager – Hyder Consulting (UK) Limited.First time at Sustainabilitylive! and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of interest in our stand and would like to come back next year.
Karen Morgan, Low Carbon Vehicle PartnershipAlthough we are primarily involved in the subsea industry we have products that we feel can be used in other areas hence we attended IWEX. We have had several enquiries and have quotes to put to companies as a result by attending the show. We came to IWEX just to find out if we could branch out into another industry and will definitely want to attend again.
Ray Ward, Global Marine SystemsEvent Director, Donna Bushell commented, “Once again we are extremely pleased with the high level and quality of attendees to the event and seeing how successful the show has become reinforces that Sustainabilitylive! continues to be the major event for all those working in the water, energy, land, environmental and sustainable business sectors.”
