Marketing Week Live breaks all records at Olympia

Marketing Week Live opened at Olympia last month, and smashed all records, with a significant 26% increase in visitors’ attendance compared to last year, securing its place as the UK premier marketing show. The two-day industry event for forward-thinking marketers brought together five shows: Data Marketing Show, Insight Show, In-Store Show, Online Marketing Show and for the first time, the MarketingWeekLiveVillage.

Nearly 13,000 visitors gathered in the Grand Hall of Olympia on the 29th and 30th June for the third edition of the show and this year, Marketing Week Live really practiced what they preached, embracing the latest marketing techniques and innovations, enrolling exhibitors in a guerrilla marketing campaign and using the latest tools to keep in touch with delegates. Many visitors took to social media platforms to comment and interact with each other, with the Twitter mentions being fed into Silverstream’s live coverage of the event on Marketing Week Live TV.

On top of the multitude of exhibitors, the conference programme was a big draw for visitors, with Centre Stage attracting most attention, with visitors to all shows rushing to the packed area.

One of the most successful keynotes, without a doubt, was by Matt Brittin, Managing Director of Google UK & Ireland who spoke on how the web is changing the world for consumers.

Other highlights included a presentation of T-mobile “Life’s for sharing” campaign and how it went viral, a talk on the six steps to CRM by Gala Coral, a conference with the Managing Director of Action Inside Management on turning promotional spend into investments and a talk on the key trends on online marketing presented by new media age’s Justin Pearse.

The success of the conferences proves Marketing Week Live really is critical to a marketer’s career, and the best opportunity to meet the most inspirational industry leaders.

The 450 exhibitors, spilt over five shows, ranged from SEO companies to promotional material, data capture software to semiotics and motivation to incentives.

Visitors were also delighted with the event, Jason Waterworth, Director at United Perfumes, was a first-time visitor: “It was my first time at the show and it has been really good. I went to see specific brands as I am looking for advice on how we can improve our e-commerce offering.”

Andrew Crump, Research and Insight Manager at Virgin Trains, comments: “This was the second time I attended the show and I found it really interesting. I came to have a look around the exhibition, but also to attend the conferences. I found the keynotes on Innocent and product development very useful.”

Paul MacDonald, Portfolio Director, says, “It is no exaggeration to say that something very special happened at this years’ Marketing Week Live. There cannot be many greater challenges than marketing to marketers. I am delighted that our business development strategy and tactics worked perfectly and the positioning of the event struck a chord with the UK’s marketing community. Our differentiation, USP and sheer hard work have paid huge dividends and our minds are now focussed on Marketing Week Live 2012 and the years to come.”
